The maker identifies an education platform and links its dedicated MiRo-E site; research and classroom positioning is established, not clinical benefit.

An animal-shaped mobile robot for teaching and companion research. It suits developers, rather than buyers looking for a ready-made pet; regional availability needs checking.

Three proposed tasks. Ten attempts at each suitable task, with the outcome, time and human help recorded. Confirm the exact robot, software and safe setup first. These tasks are not evidence that this robot can do them.
Perform one documented movement
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Return to the starting pose on command
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Repeat the movement on a permitted surface

Pick a square to see what each attempt will record.
We will record the outcome, time, control mode, human help, safety stops, exact hardware and software, conditions and full video.
Proposed attempt; not run Only proceed if the exact unit supports the task and the setup is suitable. Keep remote control, scripted operation and autonomous operation separate. A completed attempt alone does not prove autonomy. What each square will show
Keep the conditions visible
Name the control mode, surface, object or prompt and every intervention. Ten attempts are an initial result, not proof of long-term reliability.

What the evidence supports.
Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.
Capability
What can it actually do?
The specific maker claims and any independent observations are listed below. We have not run our own task tests on this robot.
Read the source-based assessmentReadiness
Could you use it in real life?
Intended use: Programmable expressive movement. Dependable everyday use has not been established by the evidence reviewed. Documented cliff-sensor limits matter. Research-companion positioning does not establish therapeutic or unattended-pet suitability.
Read the source-based assessmentThis is a research profile based on the sources below, not a hands-on test. Maker claims remain attributed to the maker; they do not prove repeatable performance in your home or workplace.
02 / Can it actually do it?
The claims, with their context.
The wording below keeps each source’s limits. A demonstration, a maker’s claim and a repeatable real-world result are different things.
Maker lists C++ and Python development tools, Blockly/Python through MiRoCODE, and Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connectivity. Custom code remains a project, not an included finished service.
Source 1The product page still carries its 1 July 2025 sold-out notice. Its one-year warranty and support wording is not a current regional offer or proof of replenishment.
Source 1The technical table lists four microphones and locates them as one in each ear, one inside the head and one in the tail. Product prose separately describes two per ear plus a tail microphone; confirm the supplied revision and actual count.

Every source keeps its original check date. Manufacturer information, research configurations and independent observations have different limits.

Specifications and configuration
Figures below retain their source and configuration limits. Manufacturer specifications are not independent performance results.
Technical table: 3.3 kg, or 2.9 kg without battery; maximum forward speed 0.4 m/s. Actual conditions unverified.
Source 2Raspberry Pi 3B+, 1 GB RAM and 16 GB microSD; supplied Raspbian image includes ROS and MDK.
Source 23.3 kg with battery; 2.9 kg without.
Manufacturer sourceDifferential drive; 90 mm wheel diameter, 164 mm track and maximum forward speed 400 mm/s.
Manufacturer source4.8 V, 10 Ah NiMH; maker states typically over six hours active or twelve hours standby, depending on use.
Manufacturer sourceTwo cameras, four microphones, nose sonar, 28 capacitive touch sensors, four light sensors and two forward cliff sensors.
Manufacturer sourceRaspberry Pi 3B+, 1 GB RAM and 16 GB microSD; Raspbian with ROS and MiRo development kit.
Manufacturer sourceGazebo simulation; the published specification says touch/audio sensing, audio output and illumination are not all implemented in simulation.

Meet Consequential Robotics MiRo-E
Consequential Robotics calls MiRo-E its third-generation educational platform. MiRo-B has separate documentation and must not supply specifications for E. Exact production revision and installed software remain unknown.

04 / Living with it
Right robot, right expectations.
What ownership could involve
The product page describes a preassembled robot, charger, battery, carry case, development tools and maintenance kit. Confirm actual pack, software access, spare parts and support before buying a used or replenished unit. No current public price verified. Old FAQ pricing and April 2019 order wording are not a current offer. Data routes, account requirements, recurring fees and service lifetime remain unresolved.
Support, software and repairs
The maker links a full documentation site and supplies a software image with its development kit. It warns that cliff sensors can be misled by lighting, objects and backwards movement, so do not rely on them to protect an unguarded table edge. Confirm battery replacement and current software compatibility for the supplied revision.
Questions still open
What needs checking before you decide.
- The specification warns that light, objects and reverse movement can defeat cliff sensing. Do not treat sensors as proof it cannot drive off an edge.
- The technical specification says its Gazebo simulation omits some physical input and output functions at the time described; simulated performance cannot validate the physical robot.
- Earlier research notes mention other mass figures; identify and compare their original source and revision before calling this a confirmed conflict.
- No therapeutic outcome, independent routine-use trial, original footage assessment or image licence established.
