Keep the conditions visible

Name the control mode, surface, object or prompt and every intervention. Ten attempts are an initial result, not proof of long-term reliability.

How much do we really
know?

Separate our own tests from published claims and the limits of the evidence. The counts below describe records, not performance or confidence scores.

01 / The assessment

What the evidence supports.

Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.

Capability

What can it actually do?

The specific maker claims and any independent observations are listed below. We have not run our own task tests on this robot.

Read the source-based assessment

Readiness

Could you use it in real life?

Intended use: Mobile grasping. Dependable everyday use has not been established by the evidence reviewed. Combining a B1 with a mobile base does not establish a reliable mobile manipulation workflow. Resolve controller and camera differences.

A clear limit

This is a research profile based on the sources below, not a hands-on test. Maker claims remain attributed to the maker; they do not prove repeatable performance in your home or workplace.

Know the exact robot

The name alone may not tell you which hardware, software or support you get. Keep editions and optional equipment separate.

Specifications and configuration

Model detail

Specifications and configuration

Figures below retain their source and configuration limits. Manufacturer specifications are not independent performance results.

Whole system

Manufacturer lists 19 degrees of freedom, 1.18 m height, 55 kg net weight and 24 V working voltage for X1.

Source 3
Mobility and endurance

Maker claims maximum speed 1.2 m/s, maximum slope 15 degrees, maximum climbing height 2 cm and up to eight hours battery life. Conditions and real-world endurance are unspecified.

Source 1
Payload and repeatability

Manufacturer lists maximum payload 1 kg and repeatability ±0.05 mm; load distribution, test conditions and operating envelope need confirmation.

Source 2
Sensing and communications

Maker lists LiDAR, ultrasonic sensors, 2D vision, a 3D camera, four-microphone array, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth and USB/serial; this page names a dabai DC1 camera. Delivered configuration is unknown.

Source 2
Camera on separate maker page

A separate X1 specification names Orbbec Deeyea; this differs from the dabai DC1 listed above. No delivered camera has been verified.

Source 3
Controller: overview

The overview names Jetson Orin Nano 8GB; actual revision is unverified.

Source 1
Controller: feature page

The feature page names Orin Nano SUPER 8GB; revision mapping to other pages is unknown.

Source 2
Controller: control-core page

A separate controller page names Jetson Xavier NX. Do not infer interchangeability or a delivered controller.

Source 4
Motion and load

Maximum load 1 kg; maximum speed 1.2 m/s; maximum climbing angle 15°.

The exact model and configuration

The exact model

Meet Elephant Robotics Mercury X1

Mercury X1 is the 19-degree-of-freedom mobile whole robot. Mercury B1 is a separate 17-degree-of-freedom dual-arm system with two seven-axis arms; Mercury A1 is a separate seven-axis single arm. Do not equate their identities or transfer specifications or fitment. X1 configuration, controller, camera, software revision and end effectors require confirmation.

04 / Living with it

Right robot, right expectations.

What ownership could involve

Confirm the exact included controller, camera, end effectors, base, power, software, training and commissioning requirements, warranty, regional support and spares with the maker. Price and UK orderability are not verified. Camera and microphone data routes, network dependence and subscriptions are unknown. The manual says the emergency-stop circuit must be connected during use; this does not establish overall safety certification or unsupervised home suitability.

Support, software and repairs

Elephant Robotics links GitBook documentation and support. Its specification table mixes a Jetson Orin Nano SUPER GPU entry with older Cortex-A57/128-CUDA descriptions; obtain a configuration-specific compute confirmation instead of merging them. The ±0.05 mm repeatability figure must not be interpreted as mobile navigation accuracy. Warranty duration, battery replacement and repair service need confirmation.

Questions still open

What needs checking before you decide.

  • No original footage reviewed; no task success, control mode or intervention rate established.
  • Controller and 3D camera references differ across maker pages; configuration and dates are unresolved.
  • No independently verified availability, price, safety certification, reliability or component fitment.
  • No household task or autonomous recovery established; maker research applications may require development.
