How much do we really
know?

Separate our own tests from published claims and the limits of the evidence. The counts below describe records, not performance or confidence scores.

01 / The assessment

What the evidence supports.

Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.

Capability

What can it actually do?

The specific maker claims and any independent observations are listed below. We have not run our own task tests on this robot.

Read the source-based assessment

Readiness

Could you use it in real life?

Intended use: Line following and optional grasping. Dependable everyday use has not been established by the evidence reviewed. Grasping belongs to the confirmed gripper-equipped kit. No offline-AI verdict is supported by the retained material.

A clear limit

This is a research profile based on the sources below, not a hands-on test. Maker claims remain attributed to the maker; they do not prove repeatable performance in your home or workplace.

Know the exact robot

The name alone may not tell you which hardware, software or support you get. Keep editions and optional equipment separate.

Meet Hiwonder Nexbit AI

Do not transfer older Nexbit configuration details to Nexbit AI. Hiwonder lists Standard and Advanced kits, with or without micro:bit V2. Its feature bullet assigns the gripper to Advanced, while general copy describes it as fitted; do not assume Standard includes it. Packing lists are images and exact contents need confirmation.

04 / Living with it

Right robot, right expectations.

What ownership could involve

Select Standard or Advanced and with or without micro:bit V2; confirm the packing list, gripper, module, cables and course revision. Confirm whether any handheld controller is included. The maker lists MakeCode and app use, suggesting setup and programming are part of ownership. Verify which functions run offline rather than infer this from the controller. Check XiaoZhi and model-provider accounts, internet, fees, child privacy, recordings and data retention. Maker claims an approximately 90-minute battery life without test conditions. Obtain model-specific age, battery and charging instructions; keep the moving gripper clear of fingers and supervise children. UK warranty, support and spares are unverified.

Support, software and repairs

Check whether micro:bit V2 is included: the store offers with-board and without-board variants. The Advanced kit adds the gripper. Tutorials, source code and circuit schematics are described. Keep AI-model accounts and possible online service costs separate from the hardware price, and confirm replacement motor/servo and warranty arrangements.

Questions still open

What needs checking before you decide.

  • General product copy and feature bullet differ on whether a gripper is fitted to every kit.
  • No source reviewed establishes offline AI functions for Nexbit AI.
  • No footage viewed, independent trials or observed task success.
  • No verified UK price for a complete selected configuration; dynamic US price and stock have unclear selection basis.
