XPENG says it released first-generation IRON in 2024 and unveiled Next-Gen IRON in 2025.
Source 2XPENG IRON
A humanoid family aimed at early commercial use. It suits people following development; first-generation and Next-Gen IRON are different, and customer-ready home use remains unclear.

Three proposed tasks. Ten attempts at each suitable task, with the outcome, time and human help recorded. Confirm the exact robot, software and safe setup first. These tasks are not evidence that this robot can do them.
Complete one documented movement or manipulation task
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Repeat the task from the same starting setup
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Record all help needed to start and finish
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Pick a square to see what each attempt will record.
We will record the outcome, time, control mode, human help, safety stops, exact hardware and software, conditions and full video.
Proposed attempt; not run Only proceed if the exact unit supports the task and the setup is suitable. Keep remote control, scripted operation and autonomous operation separate. A completed attempt alone does not prove autonomy. What each square will show
Keep the conditions visible
Name the control mode, surface, object or prompt and every intervention. Ten attempts are an initial result, not proof of long-term reliability.

Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.

What can it actually do?
The specific maker claims and any independent observations are listed below. We have not run our own task tests on this robot.
Read the source-based assessmentReadiness
Could you use it in real life?
Intended use: Generation-specific humanoid work. Dependable everyday use has not been established by the evidence reviewed. First-generation and Next-Gen must be separated. A production-line report does not establish customer task performance.
Read the source-based assessmentThis is a research profile based on the sources below, not a hands-on test. Maker claims remain attributed to the maker; they do not prove repeatable performance in your home or workplace.
02 / Can it actually do it?
The claims, with their context.
The wording below keeps each source’s limits. A demonstration, a maker’s claim and a repeatable real-world result are different things.
XPENG reports that a next-generation IRON autonomously walked off its newly commissioned production line; the sequence, control mode and task were not independently reviewed here.
Source 1In September 2026 XPENG planned mass production by end-2026, initial use in its stores and campuses, and market launch and delivery in China and overseas in 2027. These are dated plans, not verified deliveries.
Source 1XPENG describes guided tours and shopping assistance as intended uses and an industrial inspection exploration with Baosteel; this is an industrial application as well as a commercial one, not proof of home readiness.
Source 2XPENG describes walking and coffee brewing on its Next-Gen IRON page; footage was not viewed and setup, control and reliability remain unknown.
Source 3XPENG states that private data does not leave the robot; implementation, exceptions and customer terms were not independently verified.

Specifications and configuration
The maker documents the following hardware or operating details. A complete numerical datasheet remains unconfirmed; these are not independent measurements.
| Item | Documented detail | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Compute | The current IRON technology page describes three in-house Turing chips. Do not substitute the TOPS figure from XPENG vehicle computing. |
Maker source 31 Oct 2026 |
| Hands and shoulders | The maker describes 22 degrees of freedom per dexterous hand and four degrees of freedom at the scapular joint. Confirm the exact next-generation hardware revision. |
Maker source 31 Oct 2026 |
| Sensors and display | The page describes tactile sensors in soft exterior skin and a head-mounted 3D curved display. |
Maker source 31 Oct 2026 |
| Battery claim | XPENG describes an all-solid-state battery. Capacity, runtime and independent verification of its safety claims remain unavailable in this source. |

New-generation IRON described in the current company announcement.
Manufacturer sourceThe announcement lists 76 body degrees of freedom and 21 in each hand; confirm the counting convention for the final configuration.
Manufacturer sourceThree Turing AI chips; up to 2,250 TOPS claimed.
Manufacturer sourceCompany targets production by end-2026 and market delivery in 2027.

The exact model
Meet XPENG IRON
The original model is XPENG IRON without a generation. XPENG identifies first-generation IRON from 2024 and Next-Gen IRON unveiled in November 2025. Its September 2026 production announcement calls the robot next-generation IRON, but does not provide a revision identifier. Do not treat all configurations as interchangeable.

Setup, support and daily use
04 / Living with it
Right robot, right expectations.
What ownership could involve
No verified customer manual, purchase terms, operating expertise, supervision, connectivity, maintenance, warranty or support arrangements were found. The maker states a privacy aim, but data routes and exceptions remain unverified. Obtain model-specific safety and operating documentation before deployment.
Support, software and repairs
Production-line activation is distinct from customer delivery. Confirm exact generation, dimensions, battery/runtime, payload, SDK access, maintenance and warranty when an orderable package is released. Initial own-store/campus deployment does not establish UK consumer availability. Physical-AI capability claims remain manufacturer statements, not independent task testing.
Questions still open
What needs checking before you decide.
- Generation and revision of the proposed directory entry are unspecified.
- The September 2026 press release reports 76 body degrees of freedom and 21 per hand, while the 2025 Next-Gen announcement reports 82 body and 22 per hand; the later undated product page says 22 per hand. Configuration or counting differences are unresolved; do not combine these figures.
- The 2025 announcement states 3,000 TOPS and the September 2026 release states up to 2,250 TOPS; configurations and measurement basis require clarification.
- Industrial inspection is only an intended exploration; no general industrial or home deployment is established.
- No task video was watched, image rights assessed or public price verified.
