Maker lists joint and Cartesian movement, track recording, wireless control and ROS 1, Python and other development interfaces; delivered versions and configuration are unverified.

Three proposed tasks. Ten attempts at each suitable task, with the outcome, time and human help recorded. Confirm the exact robot, software and safe setup first. These tasks are not evidence that this robot can do them.
Move one suitable object between two marked positions
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Repeat with a second supported object
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Return to the starting position and repeat the sequence
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Pick a square to see what each attempt will record.
We will record the outcome, time, control mode, human help, safety stops, exact hardware and software, conditions and full video.
Proposed attempt; not run Only proceed if the exact unit supports the task and the setup is suitable. Keep remote control, scripted operation and autonomous operation separate. A completed attempt alone does not prove autonomy. What each square will show
Keep the conditions visible
Name the control mode, surface, object or prompt and every intervention. Ten attempts are an initial result, not proof of long-term reliability.

What the evidence supports.
Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.
Capability
What can it actually do?
The specific maker claims and any independent observations are listed below. We have not run our own task tests on this robot.
Read the source-based assessmentReadiness
Could you use it in real life?
Intended use: Coordinated two-arm grasping. Dependable everyday use has not been established by the evidence reviewed. Research interfaces support development potential; the inconsistent radius entry blocks a precise workspace judgement.
Read the source-based assessmentThis is a research profile based on the sources below, not a hands-on test. Maker claims remain attributed to the maker; they do not prove repeatable performance in your home or workplace.
02 / Can it actually do it?
The claims, with their context.
The wording below keeps each source’s limits. A demonstration, a maker’s claim and a repeatable real-world result are different things.
Maker describes independent arm operation, two-arm cooperation, vision-guided grasping and VR remote operation. These are claimed functions, not observed task outcomes.

Every source keeps its original check date. Manufacturer information, research configurations and independent observations have different limits.

Specifications and configuration
Figures below retain their source and configuration limits. Manufacturer specifications are not independent performance results.
Maker lists 17 degrees of freedom, 8 kg net weight, 24 V and 1 kg maximum load; load distribution and test conditions are unspecified.
Source 1Maker lists ±0.05 mm arm repeatability, without test conditions.
Source 1Maker describes a 9-inch touchscreen and Jetson Xavier controller; exact revision should be checked.
Source 2The specification table labels “8 hours” as maximum working radius; this is dimensionally inconsistent and neither reach nor endurance is established by that entry.
Source 1Mercury B1 dual-arm robot; 17 degrees of freedom.
Manufacturer sourceManufacturer table: 8 kg net weight and 24 V operation.
Manufacturer sourceTable lists 1 kg maximum load and ±0.05 mm arm repeatability; load configuration and test conditions need confirmation.
Manufacturer sourceSix-core Arm v8.2 CPU, 384-core Volta GPU and 21 TOPS claimed AI performance.
Manufacturer sourceCAN, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, USB and serial; table lists 24 V I/O with six inputs and six outputs.
Manufacturer sourceManual lists ROS 1, Python, C++, C#, JavaScript, visual programming, myStudio and serial/TCP-IP/MODBUS interfaces.

The exact model
Meet Elephant Robotics Mercury B1
Mercury B1 is a 17-degree-of-freedom upper-body system with two seven-axis A1 arms; it is distinct from the single A1 arm and the wheeled Mercury X1. A base or legs are not established. Exact revision, end effectors and supplied software need confirmation.

04 / Living with it
Right robot, right expectations.
What ownership could involve
Confirm included grippers, camera, controller, power, mounting, software, commissioning, training, warranty and UK support. Price, orderability, data handling and safety certification are unknown. Remote operation is distinct from autonomous work.
Support, software and repairs
Use the model-specific GitBook for interfaces and development setup. Its English table has an apparent error: “maximum working radius” is populated with “8 hours”. That value is excluded here and needs clarification. The documentation does not establish a guaranteed UK repair service or current spares stock.
Questions still open
What needs checking before you decide.
- No footage inspected or independent task test identified.
- Product-table radius entry is internally inconsistent.
- No household suitability, safe unsupervised operation or parts fitment established.
