Hiwonder describes line following using an eight-channel sensor, obstacle avoidance and distance tracking using ultrasonic sensing, and vision recognition of road signs at intersections. Supplied hardware, software, conditions and outcomes are unverified.

test track
Three proposed tasks. Ten attempts at each suitable task, with the outcome, time and human help recorded. Confirm the exact robot, software and safe setup first. These tasks are not evidence that this robot can do them.
Follow a short programmed route
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Stop at a marked point
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Repeat the route from the same starting position
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Pick a square to see what each attempt will record.
We will record the outcome, time, control mode, human help, safety stops, exact hardware and software, conditions and full video.
Proposed attempt; not run Only proceed if the exact unit supports the task and the setup is suitable. Keep remote control, scripted operation and autonomous operation separate. A completed attempt alone does not prove autonomy. What each square will show
Keep the conditions visible
Name the control mode, surface, object or prompt and every intervention. Ten attempts are an initial result, not proof of long-term reliability.

What the evidence supports.
Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.
Capability
What can it actually do?
The specific maker claims and any independent observations are listed below. We have not run our own task tests on this robot.
Read the source-based assessmentReadiness
Could you use it in real life?
Intended use: Tracked line following and sorting. Dependable everyday use has not been established by the evidence reviewed. Resolve Advanced/Ultimate contents, controller roles and battery wording before a configuration-specific readiness conclusion.
Read the source-based assessmentThis is a research profile based on the sources below, not a hands-on test. Maker claims remain attributed to the maker; they do not prove repeatable performance in your home or workplace.
02 / Can it actually do it?
The claims, with their context.
The wording below keeps each source’s limits. A demonstration, a maker’s claim and a repeatable real-world result are different things.
The maker describes AI-assisted voice interaction and recognition, grasping and sorting. It also claims offline colour tracking, face detection and voice control after flashing different programs; this does not establish that all large-model functions run offline or are included in every kit.
Source 1The maker describes app, PC and PS2 control and provides source code, schematics and tutorials. Assembly, included controller hardware, applicable software and development effort need confirmation.

Every source keeps its original check date. Manufacturer information, research configurations and independent observations have different limits.

Meet Hiwonder Tankbot
Hiwonder's current English offer names Tankbot Large AI Model Tank Robot Car, SKU 21031843, with an ESP32 core module and separate open-source servo controller. Its selector offers Standard and Advanced kits; the specification table puts the WonderLLM camera/audio module in Advanced, whereas the description refers to an Ultimate kit that is not in the selector. The packing lists are images and have not been transcribed. Do not treat an Ultimate option, every advertised feature or external controllers as included. The maker also lists JetTank separately; it is not this model. Generation and relationship to earlier Tankbot versions remain unresolved.
Further assessment notes
Setup, support and daily use
04 / Living with it
Right robot, right expectations.
What ownership could involve
Confirm exact kit contents, controller inclusion, assembly, firmware and compatible phone/computer before purchase. Programming and flashing may be needed; check which features are supplied. Confirm the AI service, network and account requirements, fees, microphone/camera data routes, privacy, support and updates. Obtain battery and charging instructions. Supervise moving tracks and arm and keep fingers clear; model-specific safety certification, UK warranty and replacement parts terms have not been verified.
Support, software and repairs
The maker offers source code, schematics and manuals, with Arduino IDE and Keil5 development described. Confirm AI-kit contents: tier names differ between the prose and table, and some page text refers to another robot. Obtain a dated configuration list, spare-part references and regional warranty before ordering.
Questions still open
What needs checking before you decide.
- The page's Advanced-versus-Ultimate wording conflicts; image-only packing lists have not been inspected.
- Maker describes ESP32-S3 in an adjacent hardware section but the table calls the robot controller ESP32; the precise chip role and board revision need confirmation.
- Maker describes a lithium battery as LiPo while also mentioning 18650 cells; chemistry and charger compatibility need confirmation.
- No footage watched, task outcomes independently tested, image rights, UK price or actual availability verified. This is an educational platform, not established as a general home assistant.
