Three proposed tasks. Ten attempts at each suitable task, with the outcome, time and human help recorded. Confirm the exact robot, software and safe setup first. These tasks are not evidence that this robot can do them.
Perform one documented movement
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Return to the starting pose on command
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Repeat the movement on a permitted surface
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Pick a square to see what each attempt will record.
We will record the outcome, time, control mode, human help, safety stops, exact hardware and software, conditions and full video.
Proposed attempt; not run Only proceed if the exact unit supports the task and the setup is suitable. Keep remote control, scripted operation and autonomous operation separate. A completed attempt alone does not prove autonomy. What each square will show
Keep the conditions visible
Name the control mode, surface, object or prompt and every intervention. Ten attempts are an initial result, not proof of long-term reliability.

Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.
Capability
What can it actually do?
The specific maker claims and any independent observations are listed below. We have not run our own task tests on this robot.
Read the source-based assessmentReadiness
Could you use it in real life?
Intended use: Programmed walking and voice-initiated recovery. Dependable everyday use has not been established by the evidence reviewed. A voice-triggered recovery routine is not unattended self-recovery. Resolve the 17-DOF versus 16-servo description.
Read the source-based assessmentThis is a research profile based on the sources below, not a hands-on test. Maker claims remain attributed to the maker; they do not prove repeatable performance in your home or workplace.
02 / Can it actually do it?
The claims, with their context.
The wording below keeps each source’s limits. A demonstration, a maker’s claim and a repeatable real-world result are different things.
Hiwonder associates the large AI model module and natural conversation and scene-understanding claims with the Ultimate Kit. The page also describes offline vision and voice; the manual identifies optional modules, but exact kit inclusion and offline conditions remain unverified.
Source 1The manufacturer describes voice-initiated fall recovery; this is an initiated action, not evidence of unattended recovery.
Source 1The manual describes 16 high-torque servos and optional voice and vision modules, while the product table says 17 DOF. The counted components and revisions need reconciliation.

Every source keeps its original check date. Manufacturer information, research configurations and independent observations have different limits.

Specifications and configuration
Figures below retain their source and configuration limits. Manufacturer specifications are not independent performance results.
Humanoid servo controller plus ESP32 controller
Source 1About 1.8 kg, maker figure
Source 111.1 V, 2,000 mAh, 10C lithium, maker figure
Source 117 DOF in the product table; the manual separately describes 16 high-torque servos. See the separately cited manual claim; the quantities and configuration are not proven contradictory.
Source 1The manual describes 16 high-torque servos; verify their relation to the 17-DOF table and actual configuration.
Source 2The packing list gives a 12.6 V/2 A charger; approximately three hours charging in the guide.
Manufacturer sourceThe manual advises keeping battery voltage above 10 V for motion performance.
Manufacturer sourceDifferent kits have different accessory lists; do not assume all pictured modules are included.

Meet Hiwonder Tonybot
Tonybot is the ESP32 and servo-controller educational family, distinct from Raspberry Pi-based TonyPi and TonyPi Pro. Hiwonder lists Standard, Advanced and Ultimate kits; Ultimate is specifically associated with its large AI model module. Do not equate these packages or infer the inclusion of every listed accessory. Page SKU 21020007 is a product-listing identifier, not evidence of individual component fitment or a hardware revision.
Further assessment notes
Setup, support and daily use
04 / Living with it
Right robot, right expectations.
What ownership could involve
Confirm the exact kit packing list, assembly state, controller and battery/charger, computer and compatible app, and whether vision, voice and AI modules are included. Ask about network access, service accounts, AI provider, charges and data routes before enabling cloud features. Follow the maker manual for battery and servo care; its small and sharp parts warning says under-12s should not use it and minors need adult supervision. Confirm spare parts and UK delivery and support.
Support, software and repairs
The official getting-started guide covers charging, handling and storage. Confirm controller version, supported programming tools, exact servo/battery identifiers and warranty before ordering replacements. Avoid moving powered servos by hand. Keep this small humanoid’s figures separate from TonyPi and TonyPi Pro.
Questions still open
What needs checking before you decide.
- Maker page says 17 DOF and manual says 16 servos; no equivalence or revision is established.
- Exact dimensions and servo configuration must be checked against the purchased kit; no revision map established.
- Individual package contents, software versions, current price and UK supply are not verified.
- No footage directly reviewed; no customer-facing image rights cleared.
