PUDU lists a maximum 40 kg total load and 10 kg per tray. Its 13-hour battery figure is explicitly without load, so it cannot be treated as a verified working shift.

A wheeled tray robot for restaurants and staffed venues. It suits carrying items between set points; people still load, unload and do the rest of the service.

Three proposed tasks. Ten attempts at each suitable task, with the outcome, time and human help recorded. Confirm the exact robot, software and safe setup first. These tasks are not evidence that this robot can do them.

We will record the outcome, time, control mode, human help, safety stops, exact hardware and software, conditions and full video.
Proposed attempt; not run Only proceed if the exact unit supports the task and the setup is suitable. Keep remote control, scripted operation and autonomous operation separate. A completed attempt alone does not prove autonomy. What each square will show
Keep the conditions visible
Name the control mode, surface, object or prompt and every intervention. Ten attempts are an initial result, not proof of long-term reliability.

What the evidence supports.
Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.
Capability
What can it actually do?
Field observers described mapped food deliveries, with staff dispatch and customer unloading. Congestion sometimes required physical help.
Read the source-based assessmentReadiness
Could you use it in real life?
Routine restaurant use is reported. Current readiness remains conditional on site/setup/support checks; staff involvement alone does not make it a prototype.
Read the source-based assessmentAcademic field observations across eight sites over six weeks. Incident counts were per visit, not per delivery; no success percentage can be calculated from them.
02 / Can it actually do it?
The claims, with their context.
The wording below keeps each source’s limits. A demonstration, a maker’s claim and a repeatable real-world result are different things.
The product page describes remote calling and fleet management through PUDU Link and accessories. A calling interface does not establish whether every delivery completes without staff intervention.

Setup, support and daily use
04 / Living with it
Right robot, right expectations.
What ownership could involve
Staff still have a job around the robot: loading trays, receiving items and managing interruptions. A site review should check the actual route, traffic, thresholds and recovery procedure before extrapolating from a successful delivery. The unloaded battery figure cannot predict a busy shift. Local maintenance, installation and emergency procedures remain part of the readiness assessment; the independent restaurant evidence below is limited to its tested deployments.
Support, software and repairs
PUDU lists quick battery replacement, LiDAR/visual positioning and PUDU Link management. Obtain a site survey, mapping and staff training, local service response and spare-battery quote. Empty-tray endurance is not a busy-shift guarantee. Confirm door/lift integrations and warranty rather than assuming every accessory is supplied.
Questions still open
What needs checking before you decide.
- Review an identifiable operator deployment
- Measure staff loading, unloading and recovery involvement
- Resolve site setup and local support
- Review current manual and documented operating restrictions
