Hiwonder ArmPi Pro

A wheeled arm kit for learners building camera and remote-control projects. It needs programming and setup, rather than arriving as a household helper.

Dimensions and armMaker lists 298 × 256 × 521 mm, 3.6 kg and 6 DOF including a gripper (5 DOF plus gripper).Source 1
Power and cameraMaker lists 480p camera, 7.4 V 6000 mAh LiPo and about 90 minutes continuous work; conditions are unspecified.Source 1

Keep the conditions visible

Name the control mode, surface, object or prompt and every intervention. Ten attempts are an initial result, not proof of long-term reliability.

How much do we really
know?

Separate our own tests from published claims and the limits of the evidence. The counts below describe records, not performance or confidence scores.

01 / The assessment

What the evidence supports.

Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.

Capability

What can it actually do?

The specific maker claims and any independent observations are listed below. We have not run our own task tests on this robot.

Read the source-based assessment

Readiness

Could you use it in real life?

Intended use: Camera-guided sorting on a mobile base. Dependable everyday use has not been established by the evidence reviewed. Without-Pi packages require additional computing. An FPV lesson is not automatically a tested Pro workflow.

A clear limit

This is a research profile based on the sources below, not a hands-on test. Maker claims remain attributed to the maker; they do not prove repeatable performance in your home or workplace.

Know the exact robot

The name alone may not tell you which hardware, software or support you get. Keep editions and optional equipment separate.

Specifications and configuration

Figures below retain their source and configuration limits. Manufacturer specifications are not independent performance results.

Dimensions and arm

Maker lists 298 × 256 × 521 mm, 3.6 kg and 6 DOF including a gripper (5 DOF plus gripper).

Power and camera

Maker lists 480p camera, 7.4 V 6000 mAh LiPo and about 90 minutes continuous work; conditions are unspecified.

Controller choices

Listing offers without Raspberry Pi, Pi 4B 4GB and Pi 5 2GB/4GB/8GB. Packing lists are images; their full contents have not been independently inspected.

Source 2
Vision lesson

Official ArmPi Pro documentation describes a USB monocular camera, OpenCV capture and chessboard calibration.

Documentation caveat

The lesson body calls the platform ArmPi FPV; verify that its steps match the supplied Pro revision before following them.

The exact model and configuration

The exact model

Meet Hiwonder ArmPi Pro

ArmPi Pro combines a 4WD mecanum chassis and an arm. Comparison with ArmPi FPV and ArmPi Ultra requires separate model-specific evidence. Maker offers without Raspberry Pi and several Pi 4B/5 configurations; exact delivered equipment and software depend on selection.

04 / Living with it

Right robot, right expectations.

What ownership could involve

Choose the exact controller and verify packing list, assembly, battery charging, programming skill, software compatibility, warranty and UK delivery costs. Camera/network data handling and update support are unknown. No public price is verified for a complete UK configuration. Hiwonder’s Pro documentation includes a camera-calibration lesson using a printed chessboard, but the same page refers to ArmPi FPV; confirm that lesson matches the delivered Pro kit.

Support, software and repairs

The documentation supplies code locations and camera calibration steps, but this source does not settle the Pro’s full hardware specification or warranty. Request its exact controller image, arm load/reach, servo and battery identifiers, spare-part availability and current support route. Do not substitute related ArmPi model specifications.

Questions still open

What needs checking before you decide.

  • No original footage reviewed; no reliable task outcome, intervention rate or autonomous recovery established.
  • Without-Pi option means a Raspberry Pi must not be assumed included.
  • Marketing examples are development functions, not evidence of domestic reliability.
  • The ArmPi Pro camera lesson refers to ArmPi FPV and an FPV launch file. Treat it as a related setup lead, not confirmed Pro-specific instructions until the maker clarifies the manual or hardware revision.
