The documentation hub captured on 27 October 2026 separates V2 and V3 guides for graphical programming and developer SDKs.
Source 1LuxAI QTrobot RD-V3 i5
A social robot for research and supported learning programmes. It needs a suitable programme and supervision. RD-V3 i5 and AI@Edge are distinct configurations.
Recorded specifications, with their source limits. These are not our measurements. See all specifications and configurations
The RD-V3 i5 page captured on 28 October 2026 offers €10,900 with two years warranty and free shipping. Tax basis, delivery territory, stock and lead time are not established; this is not a UK quote.
A recorded offer can change. Check its source date below and confirm the exact package, delivery region and total cost with the seller.

Three proposed tasks. Ten attempts at each suitable task, with the outcome, time and human help recorded. Confirm the exact robot, software and safe setup first. These tasks are not evidence that this robot can do them.
Complete one documented interaction
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Repeat the interaction with the same setup
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Record all help needed to start and finish
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Pick a square to see what each attempt will record.
We will record the outcome, time, control mode, human help, safety stops, exact hardware and software, conditions and full video.
Proposed attempt; not run Only proceed if the exact unit supports the task and the setup is suitable. Keep remote control, scripted operation and autonomous operation separate. A completed attempt alone does not prove autonomy. What each square will show
Keep the conditions visible
Name the control mode, surface, object or prompt and every intervention. Ten attempts are an initial result, not proof of long-term reliability.

What the evidence supports.
Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.
Capability
What can it actually do?
The specific maker claims and any independent observations are listed below. We have not run our own task tests on this robot.
Read the source-based assessmentReadiness
Could you use it in real life?
Intended use: Programmed social-learning interaction. Dependable everyday use has not been established by the evidence reviewed. RD-V3 i5 must not inherit V2 hardware. A research platform and a supported family programme require separate readiness conclusions.
Read the source-based assessmentThis is a research profile based on the sources below, not a hands-on test. Maker claims remain attributed to the maker; they do not prove repeatable performance in your home or workplace.
02 / Can it actually do it?
The claims, with their context.
The wording below keeps each source’s limits. A demonstration, a maker’s claim and a repeatable real-world result are different things.
The V3 coding guide describes a Raspberry Pi-based controller and a separate Intel NUC or Nvidia Jetson computer. It offers Python, TypeScript/Node.js and ROS2 interfaces.
Source 2The V3 guide says ROS is no longer required as the core middleware. Setup and networking instructions therefore need to match the installed software generation.

Specifications and configuration
Figures below retain their source and configuration limits. Manufacturer specifications are not independent performance results.
Intel NUC i5 and Raspberry Pi4B, RealSense D455 and ReSpeaker Mic Array v2.0, as listed by LuxAI for RD-V3 i5; not AI@Edge specifications.
Source 5Raspberry Pi QTRP plus Intel NUC or Jetson QTPC, linked by internal Ethernet.
Manufacturer sourceMagpie middleware; Python and TypeScript SDKs, plus a ROS 2 gateway.
Manufacturer sourceUbuntu 24.04 LTS; Python 3.12.3.
Manufacturer sourceExternal supplied power unit; controlled shutdown before unplugging.

Meet LuxAI QTrobot RD-V3 i5
Earlier information named QTrobot without a revision. Current documentation offers separate V2 and V3 routes, while the retained research product page describes RD-V2 computing options. This guide does not merge those into one specification or count them as extra robots. On 28 October 2026 the current research offer explicitly names RD-V3 i5, separately from RD-V3 AI@Edge. This profile uses the named RD-V3 i5 offer. Earlier RD-V2 evidence remains separate and does not describe the supplied V3 hardware. Physical revision and installed software still need verification.

04 / Living with it
Right robot, right expectations.
What ownership could involve
Start with the exact robot and software revision, then name the activity it is meant to support. A scripted educational exercise, an open-ended conversation and a research experiment are different uses. Ask which curriculum, cloud services, licences and tablets are supplied and which require additional payment. A local-processing option does not prove that every chosen application keeps all data on the device. For a future review, record prompts, adult interventions and the learner’s opportunity to stop, alongside completion of the activity. A programmed facial expression is not evidence that the robot understands an emotion. Confirm current regional support, replacement hardware and software-update terms before treating the platform as a sustainable purchase. For the documented V3 software setup, LuxAI routes internet access through QTPC and says QTRP Wi-Fi stays disabled. Do not apply older network instructions without checking the installed stack. The guide instructs use of the supplied power adapter and a button-led shutdown before unplugging after the face screen goes off. These are documented procedures, not a completed safety or reliability test. The i5 offer lists online speech and LLM services with licences excluded. Graphical Studio is listed as offline; that does not make all chosen applications offline or private. Confirm provider accounts, data routes, licences and the exact supplied software before assessing an activity.
Support, software and repairs
Check that the boot screen identifies V3; V2 instructions apply to older software. The documentation describes several hardware options, so confirm the i5 processor, memory and camera in the RD-V3 quotation. Updates use system packages. Obtain a recovery procedure, support entitlement, warranty and replacement-joint arrangements; software support does not establish clinical effectiveness.
Questions still open
What needs checking before you decide.
- V2 product hardware options must not be silently assigned to V3.
- Research or programme availability does not establish educational or clinical effectiveness.
- No independent interaction reliability, lifecycle or regional offer assessment completed.
- Reopening the old research product URL redirects to a broader AI@Edge research page. This does not map a quoted hardware package to a particular V3 installation; exact configuration remains held.
- The current named offer is distinct from earlier V2/V3 information. Confirm the exact hardware and software of the unit being offered.
