How much do we really
know?

Separate our own tests from published claims and the limits of the evidence. The counts below describe records, not performance or confidence scores.

01 / The assessment

What the evidence supports.

Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.

Capability

What can it actually do?

The specific maker claims and any independent observations are listed below. We have not run our own task tests on this robot.

Read the source-based assessment

Readiness

Could you use it in real life?

Intended use: Tap-pen coding with maps. Dependable everyday use has not been established by the evidence reviewed. Discover and Coding maps are not interchangeable by assumption. Charging both devices is part of ownership.

A clear limit

This is a research profile based on the sources below, not a hands-on test. Maker claims remain attributed to the maker; they do not prove repeatable performance in your home or workplace.

Know the exact robot

The name alone may not tell you which hardware, software or support you get. Keep editions and optional equipment separate.

Specifications and configuration

Specifications and configuration

Figures below retain their source and configuration limits. Manufacturer specifications are not independent performance results.

Power

Maker lists a 1,800 mAh lithium battery for mTiny and 300 mAh for the tap pen; confirm against the supplied revision.

Meet Makeblock mTiny

Makeblock mTiny is distinct from mBot2 and Codey Rocky. This guide concerns the Discover Kit where specified; the Coding Kit has different accessories and default joystick settings. The kit names do not establish separate robot generations.

04 / Living with it

Right robot, right expectations.

What ownership could involve

Charge both robot and tap pen under adult supervision, check the factory pairing and follow the maker recovery procedure if pairing fails. In the Discover Kit, enable the pen joystick before attempting manual control; the Coding Kit defaults differ. The maker describes using maps and coding cards and provides a calibration procedure if joystick control becomes inaccurate. Check that the chosen kit includes the required maps and markers, and retain the instructions. The product page advertises a 12-month warranty, but its purchase status is contradictory and direct delivery is limited to the contiguous US; verify a UK supplier and applicable terms. The safety guidance says the battery is not replaceable; confirm which component this covers, disposal and long-term support before purchase.

Support, software and repairs

Makeblock provides downloadable lessons and separately sold map/activity packs. Check whether the selected bundle includes the drawing accessories and maps you need. Numerical battery/runtime, replacement-pen availability and warranty were not established by this page. Marketing language about safety and development is not a clinical or universal safety guarantee.

Questions still open

What needs checking before you decide.

  • Discover and Coding kit map support differs; do not assume each map works with each configuration.
  • The maker’s cart text combines sold-out, preorder and add-to-cart states; current stock and UK supply are unverified.
  • Maker troubleshooting acknowledges possible path or turn inaccuracies; no independent performance test was assessed.
