Petoi Quaddle

A compact robot pet for coding and interaction projects. It suits learners interested in movement; the features and delivery terms of each edition still need checking.

Three proposed tasks. Ten attempts at each suitable task, with the outcome, time and human help recorded. Confirm the exact robot, software and safe setup first. These tasks are not evidence that this robot can do them.

Keep the conditions visible

Name the control mode, surface, object or prompt and every intervention. Ten attempts are an initial result, not proof of long-term reliability.

How much do we really
know?

Separate our own tests from published claims and the limits of the evidence. The counts below describe records, not performance or confidence scores.

01 / The assessment

What the evidence supports.

Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.

Capability

What can it actually do?

The specific maker claims and any independent observations are listed below. We have not run our own task tests on this robot.

Read the source-based assessment

Readiness

Could you use it in real life?

Intended use: Compact coding and companion routines. Dependable everyday use has not been established by the evidence reviewed. Resolve editions and actual fulfilment before treating the offer as an ordinary delivered product. Simple mechanics are not reliability evidence.

A clear limit

This is a research profile based on the sources below, not a hands-on test. Maker claims remain attributed to the maker; they do not prove repeatable performance in your home or workplace.

Know the exact robot

The name alone may not tell you which hardware, software or support you get. Keep editions and optional equipment separate.

Specifications and configuration

Technical reference

Specifications and configuration

The figures and features below come from the named sources. They are not independent measurements. Optional hardware and conflicting revisions are kept separate.

Documented technical details and configuration limits
Item Documented detail Evidence
Servos and variant equipment Petoi describes a four-servo platform. Buddy and Scout add conversation and hand-guided movement replay; Scout adds gesture, light and infrared sensing. Source 1
Open and closed hardware boundary Petoi describes OpenCat firmware as open source but says load-bearing joints remain closed. Printable shells and mounts do not make every hardware component open. Source 2

An omitted measurement is unknown in this review, not zero or unsupported. Check the exact hardware edition and documentation before ordering or designing around it.

Meet Petoi Quaddle

Keep Builder/Builder+, Buddy and Scout distinct, and do not import Bittle X or Nybble Q specifications. The maker page mixes launch-era text with late-pledge offers captured on 27 October 2026. Confirm the exact edition name and production configuration against a dated fulfilment document.

04 / Living with it

Right robot, right expectations.

What ownership could involve

Choose the learning activity before choosing an edition. A replayed movement should be assessed as a recorded routine, with generalisation tested separately. For a useful locomotion comparison, document the surface, feet and linkage behaviour; the review has not observed its gait. Conversation also needs a practical check of network dependence, accounts, ongoing fees and data handling. Ask which parts a learner can replace and whether assembly instructions match the delivered kit. Obtain current fulfilment, shipping, tax and support terms for the intended country. The maker’s aggregate shipment history is not a Quaddle delivery count. No current purchase recommendation follows from a funded campaign. Original footage, production-unit testing and exact software support are still missing.

Support, software and repairs

AI conversation and teach-by-hand functions are described for Buddy/Scout, not every tier. Load-bearing joints remain moulded; open firmware does not mean every mechanical part is open hardware. The page mixes early campaign prices and later tier offers. Confirm final kit contents, release files, delivery date, spare battery/servos and warranty from the actual offer; crowdfunding is not confirmed stock.

Questions still open

What needs checking before you decide.

  • No original video watched; gait and task outcomes unverified.
  • Edition naming, price text and actual fulfilment require reconciliation.
  • No confirmed cloud/offline conversation behaviour or image reuse basis.
