The maker describes a kit with camera, microphones and speaker for interaction experiments.
Source 2Reachy Mini
A desktop robot kit for builders creating interactive projects. It suits coding and teaching, but useful conversation and behaviour depend on the applications you build.

Three proposed tasks. Ten attempts at each suitable task, with the outcome, time and human help recorded. Confirm the exact robot, software and safe setup first. These tasks are not evidence that this robot can do them.

Pick a square to see what each attempt will record.
We will record the outcome, time, control mode, human help, safety stops, exact hardware and software, conditions and full video.
Proposed attempt; not run Only proceed if the exact unit supports the task and the setup is suitable. Keep remote control, scripted operation and autonomous operation separate. A completed attempt alone does not prove autonomy. What each square will show
Keep the conditions visible
Name the control mode, surface, object or prompt and every intervention. Ten attempts are an initial result, not proof of long-term reliability.

We have not physically tested this robot. No performance score or measured attempt is available.

What the evidence supports.
Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.
Capability
What can it actually do?
A purchasing reviewer reported recognising enrolled people and greeting them by name using their own local application. This is not established as an included feature.
Read the source-based assessmentReadiness
Could you use it in real life?
Historical builder use is supported by that account. Current builder readiness remains conditional on software/setup/support checks; ready-made home-assistant use is not established.
Read the source-based assessmentFirsthand reviewer transcript, not directly watched footage. Trial counts and visual sequence were unavailable.
02 / Can it actually do it?
The claims, with their context.
The wording below keeps each source’s limits. A demonstration, a maker’s claim and a repeatable real-world result are different things.
The 2025 launch description distinguishes a computer-connected Lite from a Wireless version with onboard computing and battery.
Source 2The current development setup guide describes Mini Lite as a tethered kit: it connects by USB to a computer and uses a separate wall power supply. The guide says the desktop app may not work on some ARM64 systems or unusual Linux distributions and offers the Python SDK as an alternative. Check the software version and target computer before choosing a kit.
Source 3Check the original sources
Every source keeps its original check date. Manufacturer information, research configurations and independent observations have different limits.

04 / Living with it
Right robot, right expectations.
What ownership could involve
Expect assembly, software setup and troubleshooting. Applications and any outside AI services determine actual functionality, data handling and ongoing cost.
Support, software and repairs
Pollen Robotics and Hugging Face describe an assembly kit with community behaviours. The launch article’s prices and ninety-day delivery estimate are historical, not a fresh shipping promise. Confirm current stock, regional shipping, battery service and warranty. Third-party AI applications can have separate accounts, network dependencies and costs.
Questions still open
What needs checking before you decide.
- The 2025 announcement is historical; check current kit, software, support and availability.
- No task grade is assigned from hardware specifications or maker demonstrations.
- The cited setup guide is the development main branch; support and compatibility can change by release and computer.

Our filmed attempts will appear after testing. Existing footage below keeps its original description and limitations.
