The Japanese FAQ says Mirumi responds unpredictably to sound and does not understand words or contain AI.

A small expressive companion for carrying around. It reacts without understanding language; delivery timing needs checking.

The Japanese Ivory product page lists ¥22,000 including tax and displays sold out in the observed offer. A separate catalogue entry advertises a late-November preorder; that is not immediate stock.
A recorded offer can change. Check its source date below and confirm the exact package, delivery region and total cost with the seller.

Three proposed tasks. Ten attempts at each suitable task, with the outcome, time and human help recorded. Confirm the exact robot, software and safe setup first. These tasks are not evidence that this robot can do them.

We will record the outcome, time, control mode, human help, safety stops, exact hardware and software, conditions and full video.
Proposed attempt; not run Only proceed if the exact unit supports the task and the setup is suitable. Keep remote control, scripted operation and autonomous operation separate. A completed attempt alone does not prove autonomy. What each square will show
Keep the conditions visible
Name the control mode, surface, object or prompt and every intervention. Ten attempts are an initial result, not proof of long-term reliability.

What the evidence supports.
Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.

What can it actually do?
The specific maker claims and any independent observations are listed below. We have not run our own task tests on this robot.
Read the source-based assessmentReadiness
Could you use it in real life?
Intended use: Expressive head response while carried. Dependable everyday use has not been established by the evidence reviewed. The maker explicitly excludes AI and language recognition. Assess attachment, physical response and care instead.
Read the source-based assessmentThis is a research profile based on the sources below, not a hands-on test. Maker claims remain attributed to the maker; they do not prove repeatable performance in your home or workplace.
02 / Can it actually do it?
The claims, with their context.
The wording below keeps each source’s limits. A demonstration, a maker’s claim and a repeatable real-world result are different things.
The maker specifies users aged fifteen and above, no waterproofing, and a cover that cannot be removed or washed.
Source 1The FAQ quotes about two hours charging for about eight hours use. A USB-A to USB-C cable is included but a mains adaptor is not. These are maker figures, not measured results.

Source 3The maker’s April 2026 launch says the roughly eight-hour operating time depends on frequency of use; it is not an independently measured endurance result.

Meet Yukai Engineering Mirumi
This guide uses the Japanese Mirumi support page captured on 27 October 2026. It improves on the retained January 2025 announcement, while leaving regional offers and hardware-revision matching open. The working reference is now the named Japanese-store Mirumi Ivory product, rather than an unspecified prototype or regional offer. Colour is a named retail variant, not evidence of a distinct mechanical generation; the physical revision remains unknown. The April 2026 Japan launch is separate from the January 2025 announcement.

04 / Living with it
Right robot, right expectations.
What ownership could involve
Think about where the companion will be carried and whether that setting suits a device with exposed fur and moving parts. In a practical review, compare sound responses in a quiet room and a busy public setting without assuming a missed response is necessarily a fault. Check attachment stability during ordinary walking and record any detachment. An expressive movement can be engaging without implying comprehension. Regional warranty, replacement batteries and repair routes remain to be checked. Keep the existing announcement as history, while using current support information for operating limits. The current Ivory page separates operating temperature (0–45°C) from charging temperature (15–40°C). The store shipping policy says preorders follow their product-specific dates; its normal three-to-five-working-day dispatch guidance is not a promise for sold-out or preorder stock. The launch price of ¥19,800 in April is historical, not the current quoted offer. UK availability, warranty and battery repair remain unverified.
Support, software and repairs
The April 2026 release announcement supersedes the earlier crowdfunding plan and describes Japanese retail launch. International rollout plans are not proof of current stock everywhere. Confirm current regional seller, battery servicing and warranty. Use the final production specifications rather than the tentative CES prototype sensor list.
Questions still open
What needs checking before you decide.
- No language or intelligence capability should be inferred from head movements.
- No independent battery, attachment or response test assessed.
- Current regional stock and delivery are not established by the support FAQ.
- The Japanese retail name is established, but no unit serial, firmware or mechanical revision has been inspected; no interchangeability with other colours or regional products is inferred.
