Price and availability

On 28 October 2026, 1X’s US order page displayed a $20,000 early-access ownership offer with three-year warranty, a $499/month standard subscription, and a $200 refundable deposit. The page says US deliveries start in 2026; it does not establish UK availability, delivered price or a completed customer delivery.

A recorded offer can change. Check its source date below and confirm the exact package, delivery region and total cost with the seller.

Three proposed tasks. Ten attempts at each suitable task, with the outcome, time and human help recorded. Confirm the exact robot, software and safe setup first. These tasks are not evidence that this robot can do them.

Keep the conditions visible

Name the control mode, surface, object or prompt and every intervention. Ten attempts are an initial result, not proof of long-term reliability.

How much do we really
know?

Separate our own tests from published claims and the limits of the evidence. The counts below describe records, not performance or confidence scores.

01 / The assessment

What the evidence supports.

Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.

Capability

What can it actually do?

The reporter described household object handling performed with a human teleoperator. No autonomous completion was observed by that reporter.

Read the source-based assessment

Readiness

Could you use it in real life?

Current household readiness is not established by this old demonstration. It is not evidence that every later NEO task requires remote control.

The name alone may not tell you which hardware, software or support you get. Keep editions and optional equipment separate.

Model detail

Specifications and configuration

Figures below retain their source and configuration limits. Manufacturer specifications are not independent performance results.

Battery capacity

842 Wh, maker figure

Source 1
Battery life

Order page claims 4 hours; task and test conditions unspecified

Source 2
Body

Maker lists 5 ft 6 in height and 66 lb weight. These describe the current NEO page, not every earlier prototype.

Manufacturer source
Load categories

Maker separately lists 154 lb lift, 55 lb carry and 18 lb arm payload. They are different measures and must not be interchanged.

Manufacturer source
Battery

842 Wh; claimed four-hour runtime. Task, load and operating conditions affect endurance.

Manufacturer source
Joints

Listed degrees of freedom: 22 per hand, seven per arm, three at the neck, two in the spine and six per leg.

Manufacturer source
Compute and sensing

1X NEO Cortex based on NVIDIA Jetson Thor; dual 8.85 MP stereo fisheye cameras; four beamforming microphones.

Manufacturer source
Protection claims

Maker lists IP68 for hands and IP44 for the body. The robot as a whole is not described as submersible.

04 / Living with it

Right robot, right expectations.

What ownership could involve

Check exactly which tasks and remote assistance are included, privacy permissions, home requirements, service costs and the contract for the relevant region. The US order page is a dated offer, not a UK contract: obtain terms for expert access, subscriptions after purchase, privacy permissions, regional service and supported updates before deciding.

Support, software and repairs

1X describes foundational autonomy for early owners and scheduled remote expert assistance for unfamiliar tasks. The app manages schedules and remote access; mobile/VR piloting is also described. Confirm human-access permissions, data handling, supported tasks, country eligibility, service charges and repair arrangements before committing. A deposit and a product film do not establish delivery or autonomous task reliability.

Questions still open

What needs checking before you decide.

  • A pre-order or an earlier teleoperated demonstration does not establish current delivery or universal control mode.
  • Independent home-use reliability, supervision rate and safety evidence are unresolved.
  • The 22-per-hand order-table figure and 25-DOF article use different boundaries: the article counts three wrist DOF in addition to 22 finger and palm DOF; exact shipped configuration remains unknown.
