Elephant Robotics describes a robot cat with touch, sound and vision interaction and programmable software.
Source 1Elephant Robotics MarsCat MARS-1001
A programmable robot cat for people exploring four-legged behaviour. It suits enthusiasts; maker descriptions of independent movement still need checking, and it differs from the soft metaCat.

Three proposed tasks. Ten attempts at each suitable task, with the outcome, time and human help recorded. Confirm the exact robot, software and safe setup first. These tasks are not evidence that this robot can do them.
Respond to one documented cue
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Repeat one supported play interaction
Proposed task. 0 of 10 attempts run.
Restart and repeat the interaction

Pick a square to see what each attempt will record.
We will record the outcome, time, control mode, human help, safety stops, exact hardware and software, conditions and full video.
Proposed attempt; not run Only proceed if the exact unit supports the task and the setup is suitable. Keep remote control, scripted operation and autonomous operation separate. A completed attempt alone does not prove autonomy. What each square will show
Keep the conditions visible
Name the control mode, surface, object or prompt and every intervention. Ten attempts are an initial result, not proof of long-term reliability.

What the evidence supports.
Capability and readiness are separate. These written findings are not a numerical rating or a physical test.
Capability
What can it actually do?
The specific maker claims and any independent observations are listed below. We have not run our own task tests on this robot.
Read the source-based assessmentReadiness
Could you use it in real life?
Intended use: Programmable robot-cat movement. Dependable everyday use has not been established by the evidence reviewed. MarsCat is physically distinct from metaCat. Claimed walking, recognition and docking need their own repeated trials.
Read the source-based assessmentThis is a research profile based on the sources below, not a hands-on test. Maker claims remain attributed to the maker; they do not prove repeatable performance in your home or workplace.
02 / Can it actually do it?
The claims, with their context.
The wording below keeps each source’s limits. A demonstration, a maker’s claim and a repeatable real-world result are different things.
The maker package guide identifies model MARS-1001 and 16 joints, with a charging station mentioned in its care instructions.
Source 2The undated MARS-1001 guide lists a Raspberry Pi 3B and describes a charging station using a QR-code marker. It recommends a clear, bright location away from direct sunlight and use of the supplied adapter. Check which station and adapter accompany the actual unit.
Source 4Check the original sources
Every source keeps its original check date. Manufacturer information, research configurations and independent observations have different limits.

Specifications and configuration
Figures below retain their source and configuration limits. Manufacturer specifications are not independent performance results.
16 joints in the MARS-1001 guide: head, legs and tail.
Source 22.9 kg listed in the guide; an individual unit has not been weighed.
Source 2MARS-1001; 16 joints, comprising head, legs and tail.
Manufacturer source2.9 kg; lying dimensions 388 × 268 × 240 mm excluding tail.
Manufacturer sourceRaspberry Pi 3B, quad-core Cortex-A53 and 1 GB RAM.
Manufacturer source7.2 V/6.7 Ah battery; charging four–six hours. The manual gives inconsistent two-hour and three–four-hour regular-motion figures, so endurance needs clarification.
Manufacturer sourceFive-megapixel camera, touch sensors, microphone/speaker; USB-C, HDMI and charging port.

Meet Elephant Robotics MarsCat MARS-1001
The retained Elephant Robotics manual names MarsCat MARS-1001. Colours are finishes, not separate places. Later changes to hardware, accessories or software are not inferred from the manual of unverified date and revision.

04 / Living with it
Right robot, right expectations.
What ownership could involve
The maker provides a public MarsAI source-code repository, but current app compatibility, stock, replacement batteries, parts and regional support are not verified. Confirm the supplied charger and station, surface and edge precautions, camera data handling, warranty and exact software before buying. The retained guide gives unclear battery-duration wording; do not promise a runtime.
Support, software and repairs
The official documentation covers the charging station and accessories and specifies ages 12+. Keep the dock clear and avoid placement above 35°C. Confirm current software-image availability, compatible replacement battery and joint supply, and warranty for the exact unit. The contradictory runtime wording is retained rather than silently choosing the larger number.
Questions still open
What needs checking before you decide.
- Maker descriptions of walking, recognising and docking are not independently observed in this review.
- The guide does not establish its publication date, current hardware revision or present stock.
- Colours and outfits are not separate models.
- The guide gives contradictory battery-duration wording; a single reliable runtime cannot be derived from it.
