Your questions answered
These answers explain how Robodromo works and what to check before making a decision. If your situation is different, send us the details so the answer can reflect your actual project.
Imagined robotics concept artwork. It does not show a real installation or an approved manufacturer product.
From your first question to a clearer robot plan
Robodromo helps you compare robots, plan the complete package, explore a supplier-supported trial and make parts enquiries. Richard handles your enquiry and helps identify the next useful step.
Online ordering is not yet open. You can enquire now; the exact configuration, price, availability, delivery and support must be agreed in writing before any purchase. Trials and specialist technical work need an agreed provider, scope and cost.
Questions before your first robot
Use these questions to compare a complete proposal. A missing answer is something to resolve with the supplier before committing.
What exactly will arrive?
Ask for a model-specific packing list with part names and quantities. It should identify the robot edition, battery and charger, UK mains arrangement, controller, data cables, sensors and any hands or grippers. Separate included items from optional extras and equipment you must provide. Our draft product pages are a starting point; the written quote confirms the actual package.
Can I program it and use my current computer?
Check the exact edition’s supported developer access, SDK or APIs, operating system and computer requirements. App control is different from supported development access. Ask for an official example that matches your edition and intended first task; do not assume a lower-priced edition includes the same access.
Does the robot need internet or an off-site computer?
Ask which functions run on the robot, on a local computer or in the cloud. Confirm what happens when the connection drops, required Wi-Fi coverage, ongoing fees, data leaving your site and any remote human assistance. Test the intended setup with the technical provider before relying on it for a task.
Who helps if something goes wrong?
Richard can help organise the information and supplier conversation. Robodromo does not currently provide specialist diagnosis, programming or repairs. Before ordering, agree a capable supplier or technical partner, the support scope and hours, warranty route, repair location and who pays freight. A provider has not yet been agreed for every model. Existing faults should go to your contracted support team.
What about carrying, storing and charging it?
Confirm the packed size and weight, a suitable case, a place for the accessories and the manufacturer’s charging and storage instructions. Battery travel rules can differ from ordinary baggage rules; check the exact battery and carrier before booking. A carry case alone does not make a battery suitable for a flight.
Will I be able to get replacement parts?
Ask which parts are available, their identifiers and lead times, and whether installation needs an approved technician or calibration. Similar appearance does not prove compatibility. Send us the exact model, edition and part number if known. Robotalog is being prepared; it is not yet a public catalogue of verified available parts.
How do we avoid buying more than we need?
Choose one first task and agree what a successful demonstration would show. A Robot Internship can help explore a supplier-supported trial before a larger commitment, subject to suitable equipment and technical support being available. Compare the full package and running costs, including your team’s time.
Explore Robot Internships ↗Do I need to know which robot I want?
No. Tell us about the task, the setting and the result you want. Choosing a robot comes after understanding the work.
Do you install and maintain the robots?
These need an agreed supplier or technical partner. We help clarify the requirement and find the contact. We do not currently provide specialist installation, training, diagnosis or repairs.
Can you help a smaller business?
Yes. One repeatable task is a useful place to start. Tell us about your budget and constraints, even if you are still working them out.
How would a demonstration or trial work?
A trial starts with an agreed task, baseline and success measures. The technical provider and client approve the equipment, site requirements, safe operation, cost and responsibilities before it can proceed. Trial and wider deployment are separate decisions.
Can I enquire without a technical specification?
Yes. A short outline of what you want to achieve is enough to start. We can ask follow-up questions before approaching a supplier.
Can I buy a whole robot here?
Online ordering is not yet open. You can enquire about a robot and its complete package now. Configuration, price, availability, delivery and the support provider must be confirmed in writing before any purchase.
Can we start with one warehouse route?
Yes. A defined route can give a supplier a clearer starting point than a request to automate the whole warehouse. Include the load, frequency, collection and delivery points, and traffic conditions.
Can a welcome robot replace our reception team?
Start with a defined interaction rather than assuming a replacement. Ask what requires supervision, how visitors reach a person and what happens when the robot cannot answer.
Can schools enquire about small robots and kits?
Yes. Tell us the age group, learning goals, class size and devices available. These help identify suitable supplier discussions and teaching packages.
What should a university specify?
Start with the experiment and required software access. Include the interfaces, sensors, operating environment, technical resources and project timescale.
Will a demonstration prove it works for us?
A demonstration helps, but your own task and environment may be different. Ask the supplier what a representative evaluation would involve and agree measures before a trial.
Do you need a robot brand in mind?
No. Describe what you want to achieve. We can explore relevant companies without starting from a particular brand.
How do you use AI in your research?
AI helps us organise information and explore supplier options. We check important claims against source material and supplier answers. AI-generated information is not proof that a robot can safely do your task; that needs the relevant technical assessment.
What does an enquiry cost?
There is no charge to submit an enquiry. We may earn a supplier commission and explain any relevant arrangement before an introduction. Any proposed paid work requires your agreement.
Who provides installation, training and support?
Ask the supplier to include commissioning, operator training, maintenance, spare parts and fault response in its written proposal. Check what is included and who is responsible after handover. Existing urgent faults should go to your contracted support team.
What should we check about our space?
Include floors, thresholds, doors, routes, charging, connectivity and the people sharing the space in your brief. The technical supplier must assess the site and agree any changes before deployment.
Can you help identify or source a replacement part?
Send the exact robot model and edition, the part identifier if available, and photographs of its label and connections. We can investigate identification and supply; compatibility and availability need evidence before an order. This is a parts enquiry, not a repair booking.
